I posted this in the LA thread but wanted to come over here to get yalls opinions. I know this is upper level moisture but is there some kind of merging about to happen or at least the impulse of energy that is dropping down from the nw going to enhance the energy in mexico and blow up? Sending more and heavier precip east?

Well, I'm not going to work after all. My boss was worried about me getting there. Still sleeting steadily.

Called work, told them to expect me to be late, or not at all. Bought myself 2-4 hours to see how this develops.

He played the, 'roads are fine now, so it'll be okay' card, I said, I'll see how it develops over the next several hours.

 Looking forward to, perhaps, multiple winter weather chances next 7-21 days. Oh, and cold air of course.

WPO is cliff diving, EPO is already in the depths. They never fail to deliver prolonged freezes and it looks like severe cold will emerge in Western and NW Canada. -PNA will bring out a strong jet and multi-faceted storm(s). Your odds my friend for snow has never been better this winter.

I think I love you NTXW :) <3

I think it's all part of the energy rounding the base of the longwave trough. It'll only serve to enhance precip for your area. I don't know if you're wondering if the precip amounts will be heavier than forecast ... I couldn't say. But clearly there will be enough upper level energy approaching you and lift to create wintry precip.

Two hour delay until 10am, so drove to work. The roads were not bad on Parmer/45 area to 35. Slick spots on bridges and less traveled roads. The frozen grooves were tricky. Everyone slowed down on those and were overall cautious. Saw a Mustang that looked like it spun out and hit guardrail. On way as I'm trying to keep from slipping on the bridges and less traveled roadways, I get a text when I'm almost to work stating that opening is delayed until noon with just a Skeleton crew. I'm not on a Skeleton Crew, so I drove back.

Surprisingly, the roads were not bad on Parmer/45 area to 35. Slick spots on bridges and less traveled roads. The frozen grooves were tricky. Everyone slowed down on those and were overall cautious. Saw a Mustang that looked like it spun out and hit guardrail on other side of highway. Woman was out on her cell phone. Looked fine. Nothing serious. My car slipped in the neighborhood. Didn't hit anything/anyone. Scary though!

But, in any case, I collected some free ice in the process!! :ggreen:

32.7 Humble, light to moderate sleet with occasional snow flurry mixed... Sleet starting to white coat over the freezing rain glaze.

I know we just have to wait and see, but does anyone think we may end up getting Winter Storm Warning criteria this afternoon? Or do will the precip end in the next few hours and dry out.. I see the moisture west of us but wonder what will happen. Maybe a surprise? :double:

Thanks porta. Not really amounts more of duration. The reason I was asking is because watching long loops of our regional radar it shows all the precip dropping south at a pretty good clip. So was wondering if the southward progression will slow down and then take on a more west to east movement. Alexandria is almost at the clearing line already. If it keeps up this will be over before we know it.

I promise i saw like 10 HUGE snow flakes as the sleet picked up. My eyes were not deceiving me. Only lasted for like 3 minutes though. Still at 32F.

Well, how about that? Got a text saying office is closed to ensure employee safety due to icy conditions. What a SHOCKER! smh
Reaction instead of pro action by those in charge of our safety.

"SUBJ:Park 35 & R11 closed today, Jan 28th
MSG:In order to ensure employee safety..."
"...closing the central office due to various road closures/icy co"
