Holding out some hope for a burst of snow at the end of the precip but have only gotten very light sleet/snow over the past few hours. I'm actually about to take a nap for a bit I'm absolutely exhausted  .

One truly amazing aspect of this storm is we are down to 25 degrees now. Our record low for this date is 24. We may very well tie our break the record low during daylight hours!

Would be fascinated if some of the pros here could shed light on what caused the dry slot through Baton Rouge and Lafayette

Looks like gonzales might be in a heavier band right now. Maybe a little moving towards BTR but I am sure that is followed by a dry slot.

LSU is canceled for tomorrow - The temperature safe going to get lo wand if freezing rain keeps accumulating, the roads won't melt in time.

People are skidding pretty bad in BTR, so we're definitely getting something.

Yeah we are getting something but it is as light as it gets. At this point I will be happy with one heavy band, I suppose.

Here in Baton Rouge we have been dryslotted. Still it is incredible that it is middle of the afternoon and only 26 degrees with a fine light sleet.

Reporting from Metairie getting moderate sleet/ice pellets. Nothing seems to be sticking. Hope this keeps up!

You wouldn't guess it looking at the radar, but in Baton Rouge, the rain is coming down really hard now and accumulating fast. Getting lots of frozen precipitation and glazing.

I'm in the Garden district, by the way, for other BTR people. Tree branches are starting to bend.

It looks like the big area of precip in SETX has finally begun to make its move. The question is whether the dry slot moves in tandem so that precip can come to us or will whatever is causing the dry slot going to stay and kill off all the moisture before it makes it to us. What do you all think? Do dry slots tend to move along with the precip shield or do they tend to stay in place?

It extends down into Vermilion Parish as well. We had three times this amount on Friday. Awfully cold though, 26 degrees and strong wind.

I'm not worried about the dry slot anymore. According to radar we should be getting light to nothing. But looking outside, it's coming down the hardest right now. It's actually coming down harder than friday.

Hardest sleet so far. Coming down good, probably as good as any we saw Friday. Just wish this could go on for a few hours instead of 5 minutes at a time.

BigB- we are getting freezing rain hard in the Garden District. I think we are North and West of you. Expect to see a lot more of this, its not letting up.

Also, the dry slot that has plagued us all day has really filled in now. I can't see this stopping soon.

Moisture is starting to fill back up closer to San Antonio and Houston. TX…doesn't look like this is over just yet.

It also looks like the northern edge of precip has begun to move south and getting close to giving us better precip. Or is the dry slot just filling in and giving that illusion? Finally cheering up a little bit over here but not even close to happy. lol

bigB, be happy. This doesn't show signs of letting up. I'd bet we get that .25" - .5" of freezing rain that we were forecast for. Possibly a little snow!
