Considering how much of a "non-event" this was in Houston(what some are saying)I got plenty of sleet and some flurries, Total accumulation without melting would probably be about 1/4"-12". With melting it appears to be about 1/8". Radar is showing one more round of ice coming down I10 but I will believe it when it starts falling. Could be virga. Currently showing 33.4f which is the highest I've seen today.
edit to add-Very light mist falling. Nothing will come of it.

Its cold outside. Really cold.
The roads are frozen solid. Nobody's going anywhere tomorrow until it warms, that's for sure.

Do you think the roads may be hazardous into Thursday morning? If the high tomorrow is lower than forecast (I think that's possible with all the ice on the surface) we may not be above freezing for a long duration. What does melt will need to evaporate quickly because it will refreeze Wednesday night. I have to cross that MS River bridge to get to work and the Intercoastal bridge over in Brusly. I guess we will know tomorrow afternoon.

The ground is still covered by sleet and I can still see it in the streets in some spots. I think they will have bridges and roads open tomorrow after all even though the temps may not melt a lot today.
Did anyone see the extended forecast on TWC app this morning? They showed snow showers next Thursday. I just laughed and went back to bed. It has since been taken out.

Well we've warmed to 30 officially but my car is still showing 28. The sun sorta peaked out for a minute but clouds have thickened again which is causing roads to remain icy. Several roads have closed AFTER 9am this morning which tells me if we don't get much above freezing today we'll have the same issues tonight. Can't ever remember a weather system outside of a hurricane that shut this city down for two days.

Roads are a lot better than they were late last night. The ridiculous amount of dry air and evaporation last night was unreal. Before I went to bed my driveway, street, and truck were almost completely coated in ice. Got up this morning to check to see if my wife could get out to go to work and 3\4 was dried up and gone. Truck was ice free except the windshield and bed. Street has some on shoulder and that's it.

More school districts announcing closure tomorrow. Mine (West Baton Rouge) has not yet but almost all surrounding districts have. I have also heard the interstate is closed until tomorrow so I am not sure how they expect their staff to get to work. I am hoping it is just a late coming announcement.

Well, two records to report! We tied our record low last set in 1961 of 24 yesterday morning but then it reached 23 before midnight last night so we broke that record low. This morning looks like it bottomed out at 19 officially breaking the record low of 21 from 1966. My home weather station actually showed 18.0! First time breaking into the teens since 1996 even though we hit 20 just a few weeks ago. Winter to remember for sure.

And to add to that our water pipe actually froze last night. Wife woke me up at 7:30 to tell me no water. First time this has happened here since we bought this house almost 10 yrs ago. Told here not to to worry it would thaw out quick once the sun hit it, since its on the east side of the house and the bricks would act like an oven and absorb the heat all around it. And sure enough once it got above freezing we had water. Weird thing is it only got down to 21-22. Guess because it has been so cold lately and the pipes never warmed up. Oh and also we've had so many hard freezes this year my satsuma and orange trees are shot. Saved them through December but January wiped them out.
