South Texas Storms wrote:So you think both the GFS and Euro are both significantly underestimating the potential rainfall amounts across central Texas? A few days ago both models were indicating that we could see around an inch of rain with the system early next week. Now both of the models are showing about .25 inch. I will be happy if I get over .50 inch from that storm.

I believe so, if my thinking that the coastal trough/low will be the better region for cyclogenesis. I don't have the merit to say I know that will happen, frankly I don't but it's just something I've caught on over the years following storms that like to eject with -PNA. I have no clue what the qpf will be but I wouldn't bet on the low end from seeing the pattern.

To continue Ntxw's for entertainment purposes only segment.....an even more extreme Arctic Outbreak is depicted the following week according to the GFS Ensemble Control Run. Yes, that is some 40+ deg F below normal temps invading Texas :double:

February has been known for cold and snow in Central, S, and SE TX. I don't think we are done with the Winter threats even here in SE TX. My friends in NTX will get there turn again. Just my 2 cents.

How Eerie is that? Now we know what 1899 looked like...on top of the SST maps I posted the other day which for the winter has no other twin than that year.

More on our fun maps entertainment segment. Should the -WPO tank as it is doing this is what will be crossing the pole which can be seen on the European runs.

I hope that the GFS continues to trend towards the Euro, and that Euro continues to trend colder and wetter. :D

Bob Rose's take on Winter. I like. :)

"Winter is still in full force and looks to continue well into February."

0z GFS is going to cave to the Euro on Sunday, no longer a flat wave ejecting.

That is a fairly significant difference, it cannot be trusted. The second ejection follows the euro, now we just need the surface to change and follow along.
