Why must you always ruin the fun? :crying:

Don't get your hopes down! The models have been trending colder, wetter, and further southeast for Sunday. There are A LOT of dynamics with this system; someone is going to get pounded around the Red River. Dallas-Fort Worth will likely see a wintry mix. Of course these are my opinions, so check the FW NWS for an official forecast.

Shreveport AFD:
IT LOOKS LIKE THERE WILL
BE THE POTENTIAL FOR A WINTER MESS ACROSS OUR ENTIRE REGION
THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY. OPERATIONAL MEDIUM RANGE PROGS ARE IN
AGREEMENT WITH SNOW ACROSS OUR NORTHERN THIRD...FREEZING RAIN
ALONG AND NEAR THE I-20 CORRIDOR WITH A COLD RAIN ACROSS OUR
EXTREME SOUTHERN ZONES ATTM.

This thread could conceivably reach 400 pages by next weekend if some of the medium-extended range QPF/temperature forecasts verify

Indeed ... it appears both of our states will be significantly impacted by the Thur-Fri storm system. Fun times ahead!

I don't think you caught all of the AFD, aggiecutter. This is what I saw:

IT LOOKS LIKE THERE WILL BE THE POTENTIAL FOR A WINTER MESS ACROSS MOST OF OUR REGION
THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY. TEXARKANA HOWEVER APPEARS TO BE IN A DRY SLOT. OPERATIONAL MEDIUM RANGE PROGS ARE IN
AGREEMENT WITH SNOW ACROSS OUR NORTHERN THIRD...FREEZING RAIN
ALONG AND NEAR THE I-20 CORRIDOR WITH A COLD RAIN ACROSS OUR
EXTREME SOUTHERN ZONES ATTM.

Yeah if anything falls its a novelty. As said in a post this morning this was supposed to be a panhandle to Kansas storm.

The GEFS suggests about .50+ QPF across Central/E/SE Texas overnight Thursday into Friday with higher amounts closer to the Coast into Louisiana N of the Coastal Low.

:uarrow:

Sunny and highs in the low 70s. We'll be on the warm side of the system and dry slotted.

I noticed that. I just omitted it from the text.

 Who am I kidding ... it will probably end up with you getting ample snowfall and me building a Cold Rain Man in Austin.

That's how it usually goes.

With the sudden dry and warm streak that snapped us out of winter for a few weeks, I am just happy to be having the discussion for winter weather once again! This will be an interesting week to say the least! That being said I am truly hoping the these events do not turn into icing events and stay on track for snow. Winter Weather Watch has been issued up here in the Falls so we will wait to see how it all pans out.

CFSv2 is still a jawdropper for the upcoming week and following. One thing is for sure, winter will not be ending the first half of February.
