Interesting that the dew point at my nearby station in Richardson has fallen from the mid-30s to 21 over the past several hours. Definitely a colder air mass is settling into north Texas.

Looks like we should get hit pretty hard here in the Falls! It has been intriguing following the lead up to this event. I just hope it stays the course and drops more snow than freezing rain or sleet.

I wonder that if the 0z GFS and Euro follow what the 0z Nam did, would NWS FWD extend the winter storm warning to Wise and Denton counties?

This is pretty normal for a northern Texas event, it's active. It just seems not so compared to what happened last week in the southern half because for them it's much more rare and involved posters from Louisiana chiming in. For us it's unusual but not earth shattering, at least not yet, it will pick up when the radar lights up. We've done all we can do really with the models at this point.

Now if for some reason the low cranked a surprise inch for Portastorm, the posts will come in groves.

Speaking radar, It's starting to light up around the West Texas New Mexico border. Its very slow moving though.

nam/sref/hrrr trend continues... 00z hrrr run takes the term dendric growth zone to a whole new level between okc & i-20 corridor :double: : http://rapidrefresh.noaa.gov/HRRR/displ ... ll&adtfn=1

*westplexers (Denton, fort worth roanoke, weatherford, Bridgeport) & red river posters need to stay tuned

edit : and 1z hrrr doesn't disappoint. widespread 4-6" per hour rates under the heaviest band along & west of i-35 through 15hrs. again just a trend, take however you may.

A little reminiscent of the Christmas Eve blizzard of 2009 that dropped 10" in Cooke County and a foot or more up towards OKC.

Hey Folks, long time lurker, first time poster. Not a pro met or an amateur even. Just a weather nerd. Smack dab in the middle of Denton County (Little Elm area).

Looking forward to some snow here. Having grown up in So Cal, it's nice to live in a place that actually has weather.

Looks interesting even in eastern-plex as well. I am assuming the temperature profile of the atmosphere is going to be warmer so sleet instead of snow. According to the HRRR soundings for Ft Worth, it looks still more sleet profile at 15 hours, but still if it were a bit cooler in reality, it looks perfect for heavy snow.
