If only we could get rid of the very dry air around 850mb in East Texas, but it does not look like that will happen. This does not seem to be our year around I-20 in East Texas. Still hoping next week will send winter out with a bang.

This morning for Lindale.

Hey Iorange55, looks like a blob of snow out west is taking a more southerly track towards us. Maybe we can get in on the "bigger flakes" action.

I know the school kids must be ticked they're at school, but it'll still be on the ground when school lets out later.

An area of higher reflectivity, up to 30dbz, is developing in northern Parker county moving east towards northern Tarrant. Might see a nice little burst of heavier snow

Noticed that! It would probably be enough to actually cover everything in snow! Right now, it's all spotty. The white patches are all over the place, but there isn't quite enough out there to truly make it look like winter.

Let's do our best snow dance!

To my very untrained eyes it appears on radar that the snow is now building ever farther west out past abiline. It seems to be filling in a little more solid all the way out there. That would put it snowing for hours here in north fort worth

The biggest snow flakes and the heaviest snow fall I have seen all morning. Happening right now. Amazing.

It started sleeting in College Station shortly after 6am and it comtinued for at least 2 hours. The roads were messy. Lots of ice on the roads and lots of accidents (no delays in schools or work). My normal 40 minute drop off the kids and go to work commute took me over an hour and a half.

There was sleet on the roads off-line and ice in the path of the wheels in many areas.

Can someone postulate how much this is going to continue to build out west? What's the driving mechanism behind that? I notice that line out near San Angelo dipping farther and farther south as it builds, and am starting to get my hopes up it might get Austin in on the action at the tail end. I can't fathom temperatures will get above freezing today with the cloud cover in place.

Thanks!

I'm seeing the same thing. By the way, I'm hearing about some ISD's that are closing for the day. Azle ISD just closed

I choose the right times to post. Large snowflakes fall in pretty hard right now.

This is getting interesting. Radar looks like it is really filling in nicely out west, even developing down to the southwest.
