Wow! Quite a few rumbles of thunder in my area right now!
I can confirm what the Professor said; the precip was snow over here. We live very close to each other.

Geez. Those are quite impressive. I believe NTXW said it best when he talked about it being spring above and winter below.

Re: Texas Winter 2013-2014
A buddy of mine who is a private sector meteorologist (no, not that private sector meteorologist!) just told me that the cloud-to-ground lightning rates in North Texas into Oklahoma are at or above severe thunderstorm levels! Combine that with wintry precip ... wow, just wow!

Freezing sprinkles throughout the morning in uptown Dallas. Pretty much a non-event to this point.

You guys have had so many winter wx events this year. Super jealous. This winter is by far the craziest ive been throguh so far. Insane amount of fronts. All of these fronts are so shallow though.
As far as the mountains in SE OK, JB mentioned that it also creates a downsloping effect which heats up the air on the leeward side. Eventually it will fill in though.
I wish SE tx had a significant event with all these cold spells.

Can confirm thunderstorming in Killeen at 32 degrees. I'm looking for sleet as these drops are huge but appear to be all liquid or rapidly melting frozen precip of some sort. It's weird. But it did just hit freezing about an hour ago & was 80 2 days ago & in the mid-70s yesterday. The thunder is actually very intense.

Latest RAP has heavy precip moving through North Texas, just south of Metroplex up to Red River, from around 3-7pm this afternoon...would cause MAJOR issues if verified

HGX is carefully monitoring and suggesting the may have to issue a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of SE Texas later today.

I'm thinking dry slot, roughly South of 30, West of 35. Drizzle is likely the most we will see on the east side of the metroplex. We miss out on precip a lot, which stinks in a drought. That's my opinion, not the NWS.

Yeah so far it's been much ado bout nothing for us eastplexers. Some sleet, some light freezing rain. Nothing travel impactful. Looks like the northplexers are reeling it in right now.
