We'll see. The local mets are going to look really silly if that turns out to be true. Like I said, WFAA just came on television and basically said the event was ending after the band by Decatur.

The band the RAP picked up might be forming out west. If you look at the Dyess Air Force Base NWS Radar (near Abilene), there is another line of sleet or frozen precipitation showing up west of Decatur. If it holds together and lift continues to increase, this event might not be over quite so soon.

Talk about March Madness.
At this time yesterday, it was 77 degrees in Denison. Today, at 2:20 p.m. in the afternoon on March 2, the temp is 22 degrees. That's a 55 degree difference in 24 hours. Mind boggling!
In Oklahoma City, it is 13 degrees. In Amarillo, it is 8 degrees.
Wow, just wow. Has got to be one of the "Top 10" Arctic fronts of all-time in North Texas during the month of March.

Why on earth would they say that when the low and best lift is still out in New Mexico?

I have no idea. I was shocked when she said it. It was Colleen Coyle.
She said, "This band out by Decatur will probably be the last of it."

This storm is baffling. A given location could see 65 degrees, then a 40 degree temp drop followed by rain and freezing rain, then thundersleet, then snow from clouds a couple thousand feet up then 10 degrees by morning all in a day's time.

I realize that this has been a tricky forecast but I think the perception by the public (from what I'm seeing on FB and social media) is that the local mets already look a bit silly.
Some hugged the big models too much and said this would be a light, low impact kind of event. Some considered the others models that were painting a more serious picture to be outliers. They underestimated the severity of the cold air and amount of precip and have been playing catch-up today.
If it doesn't get any worse, it's already pretty bad in some parts of North Texas. I'd say we're 1/3 of the way here in Grayson County to the severity of the early December sleet storm that brought 2-4 inches of sleet to Sherman/Denison.
If convection does explode again, then wow, just wow. Historic kind of stuff IMO, at least for March.

Just watched it back to make sure I didn't hear it wrong, but that's what she said.
Hopefully there weren't that many people listening to her.

Re: Texas Winter 2013-2014
Just drove home from The Woodlands to Huntsville. 72 and rainy down there, 42 with a drizzle up here, guess the front passed through.
Checked the weather channel app on my phone for funsies, wasn't supposed to be near 40 until 8pm tonight...seems a little WRONG.

The band out west seems to be weakening. Wonder if it will make it to the Metroplex.
