Re: Texas Winter 2013-2014
Just had a moderate band of sleet move in. Only lasted 3-4 minutes though.

@BigJoeBastardi: This is as great a weather day in Texas as late March 84 when it snowing in Panhandle and in low 30s while 106 in Lower Rio Grande Valley.

Lots of small returns starting to pop on the radar west of I-35. Convective burst beginning perhaps?

Re: Texas Winter 2013-2014
seems like the best CAPE is just south and east of dallas as the storms seems to be exploding in that area.
the line to our west Abilene, just doesnt seem to have access to high cape at this time...?
could the earlier precip have stabilized the air west of this area ?

for those doubting.. latest rap buries the metroplex (esp eastplex) with 3-4"+ per hour sleet rates, in about 1-2 hours.

The CAP gets weaker as you go east....it's why you'll see the heavier precip bands breakout the further east you look.

My goodness, I know the GFS is in catch up mode but this seems a little overboard....has over 0.30 inch QPF falling between now and 6pm at DFW

So is this the end of the precip or is more on the way? I seem to be reading two thoughts on here.....

But there is short-range model support that heavy precip is/will redevelop.
EDIT: IMO, radar returns appear to be increasing across North Texas.

I think the RAP is very wrong. Maybe in Tyler, not in DFW.
