I agree Chad - lets all realize that our opinions right or wrong are okay. Now if you are blantily wrong that's another story.
Does anyone really want this storm - I hope not - the devastation that its going to cause will be unbelievable - lets hope the WNW turn is happening now and by a miracle of God its goes away from all land.
Until then lets all just take a deep breathed - be prepared and respect each other here on STORM2K.

I couldn't agree more! We have some great mets that are trying to help us all learn. Pay attention and listen is always the best way to learn. I'm not saying I believe everything I see posted but it does give me some things to look at and see how things are developing. To the Mets, patience is the word LOL

The professional and amateur mets have done a wonderful job this year explaining things and I know many people have learned a lot from them.......I certainly have.
Everyone.....just remember to disagree with respect. We can disagree without tearing people down.....whether they are right or wrong.

Taken a deep breath and sorry if I've offended anyone. As I told one of the mods...and have told Ticka before...I come here and to the chat room to help people understand the weather a little better and why it does what it does and how to plan accordingly.
I can say for a certainty that it will not impact us Ticka!

Well said, everyone. I understand that nerves are frayed but we have to remain a cohesive group or we'll just be another message board. We are blessed with some of the best Mets around and it behooves all of us to listen to what they have to say. The last few days there have been way too many posts from newbies arguing with the BEST. Everyone has opinions but sometimes it's best to just keep it to ourselves and pay attention to the professionals and the models. Some may be proved wrong but only time will tell. Great thread. Lynn

GO FLORIDA GATORS
I'm sorry, but I just too much of a weather buff, to want this storm just to go out to sea, which is LEAST LIKELY to happen. I want this storm but maybe not overhead, as Cat 5, maybe Cat 2 or 3. The thrill and excitement. Something you don't get here in NYC area often. You all better off hoping for a weaker storm.

Air Force that's the best forecast I have heard yet....Texas is in the clear...send me my cold(cool) fronts.....thanks AirForce for taking the time to teach us all a little sometimes....the hype and constant influx of information is so difficult sometimes to digest and who and what to believe and what not is just as nerve-racking.
Thanks everyone for stepping up and showing your fellow posters a little respect.

Thanks Lindaloo.
I think one of the reasons the blood pressure of the pro-mets is a little high right now is we understand (as everyone else does...pro and amateur alike) the seriousness of this situation. This is NOT the time for people who don't have the skills or knowledge to be tossing forecasts around like they are pennies. It would be different if we were dealing with tropical storm Henri or TS Grace...but we are dealing with a Cat 5 Hurricane with an eye 60nm in diameter. That means the devestation is huge where it hits. So...this is not something to forecast by my "gut instinct" and throw out all the data. That is what is bothering us. If this was Henri or Grace...then this would not have reached this level of intensity and we would just giggle at it. However...this is a Cat 5 and we cringe at such statements. This is nothing to play with...this is life and death and that is why we are so serious.
We are not just concerned that Floridians know they are Ok...but that those UP the east coast are probably in for it unless this curves a little more eastward and goes out to sea. When you were a kid...mom could take care of your head cold...but there a point that she took you to the Dr. Same situation here in my opinion. There is a point in tropical forecasting when nonprofessionals can make guesses and say maybe this or that...tropical storms or cat 1's...or even Cat 5's that are 3000 miles away. When a Cat 5 is bearing down...well the time is nearing to let the Dr.s do the work. Isabel is not a head cold...she's full blown cancer. Guesses are OK...but making bold statements and throwing out reason and data in the face of a Cat 5 is dangerous and it doesn't need to happen when we have a Cat 5. Let the pro's handle the dangerous situations. IF you want to stay at home and cut the cancer out of your own body...that's your biz...but don't subject everyone else to it
