Mid-Level Recon
I noticed in the POD for recon that there are low-level flights but there is also what appears to be a C-130 flight at 28-34,000 feet. With the Gulfstream above that and the two surface flights at 0-10,000, is the purpose of the 28-34K feet flight to sample the mid-level of the atmosphere? Or what would be the aim?

For model input

I did kinda figure it was for model input but I was wondering what the purpose would be. I've heard for years that the steering currents are above that level. What is at the mid-levels of a TS that would be of interest?
