That's what I'm thinking.

Although I have been a hurricane forecaster since 1980 that only means I've been wrong lots of times.

It may relay the new information from the AF301 recon flight currently in progress, which did not make it to the center prior to the advisory.

Do I spy a small eye trying to appear on visible? Wait for a couple for frames to determine.

What a big difference 12 hours can make. Last night Arthur was struggling with a bit of shear, mid level dry air, and lacking convection in the west quads v. a healthy looking hurricane this morning.

Breezy and humid on the Treasure Coast and watching the high clouds zip to the northeast. Arthur has a healthy supply of fuel for sure.

Staying just west of the forecast track may spell greater impact for the northeast coast?

This couldn't happen on a more inconvenient weekend. Hope all in the potential path are watching this closely.

They won't do a special advisory for just the pressure...once the winds catch up to the pressure, though, that's a different story.

Just an observation, I'm in coastal NC and the humidity is insane. 72 percent humidity and a heat index of 99 degrees. I don't think dry air is going to be a problem any longer.

My opinion is just that, my opinion and should not be taken as fact or used to make important decisions. That's what the professionals are for.

Spent many a great weekend/week back in my younger days on the Outer Banks.

Their whole economy depends on this weekend and the summer.

Arthur may very well wipe out the roads in a big way. That's sad for our fellow people who work hard out there to make ends meet.

first FL pass does not even justify 80 KT... only 70 KT in the NEQ. Quite surprised the winds are so light in the NEQ. SEQ has higher winds, however. The SEQ is where the highest winds are supposed to be

Very intense tropical squalls are striking south of Wilmington.

Reporting from Atlantic, NC. Downeast Carteret County about 30 miles from Beaufort.

Looks like an eye is starting to come out this thing means business.

Indeed...usually a hurricane would hit late summer and maybe only a week or two is ruined. An early July storm may cost the whole summer for the OBX.

What was the impact after Bertha in 1996...this will probably be a similar intensity...

VDM is 980mb. Extra pressures remember at 700 ft are subject to error. I wouldn't use them that much other than for monitoring trends. Wait for the VDMs

Rain here in Southport, Nc has been intermittent all morning. We just had a strong rain band come through and dropped a significant amount of rain for about 10 minutes. It caused some pooling in the streets, but that only took a couple of minutes of no rain to recede. Looks like another band is coming in over the river in just a couple minutes.
