just did a pretty good jog to the NNE

was just watching that too. Getting gusts to well into the 30's at Atlantic Beach NC out of the E to ENE. Very humid and temps in the high 80's as well. That jog to the N may have been the nail in the coffin for it staying offshore. Looks like it would have to hook a sharp right turn to meet forecast points. I wonder if they are getting nervous at NHC yet?

Looks like more of a NE wobble according to the latest visible and radar loop. Wilmington may be spared the eyewall but it will be hard for Morehead city to miss it IMO.

Why not play it safe and expand the warning area a bit?

I don't like too much confidence. We are after all... human.

Although I have been a hurricane forecaster since 1980 that only means I've been wrong lots of times.

Haha Aric, it's Southport, not South Point. I have been saying it for the last 2 days. :ggreen:

BTW Wind and rain have really picked up quite significantly over the past 30 minutes.

That NE motion may be an optical illusion as the northern part of the eye is becoming obsured by heavy squalls north of the center. Won't miss Wilmington by much.

Yeah, been sustained wind for about 45 minutes now. Frequent gusts shaking the house a bit (on pilings) I am right on the IC waterway and the water is still at High tide level which occurred several hours ago.
