Thanks for sharing, not much of a video due to the power outage and night time! Why do all the big storms like to make landfall during the night time? My two big experiences (Rita, Ike) occurred at night also. I guess the hurricanes don't want us to get good footage illustrating how destructive and dangerous they are!
It's amazing, most of the big hurricanes that I remember since 2004 made landfall at night I believe the exceptions were Gustav/Katrina which both hit early in the morning and I believe Sandy was an late afternoon/early evening storm.

hard to say earlier it eroded completely away then 30 min came back and was stronger lol
At some point over the next few hours after it passes the NC coast that as it starts interacting with the trough more it may get a little stronger before becoming extratropical, IMO.
Oh yeah I wouldn't count this out getting to near cat 3 after it gets away from Hatteras and before it speeds up too much. After all for close to 24 hours it will lose the land interaction and still be over the warm Gulf stream with possibly less dry air and still low shear. It has had such a good tight circulation all along and they are tougher to break down.

Stay safe and take care, seahawkjd!
I remember all of us sleeping in the living room during Rita cause all we could hear was trees snapping and each one of our rooms was in line of a massive pine tree. Intense night.

Yeah I'm trying to get the one light source I have but the power grid isn't cooperating lol. Really getting dodgy outside.

I remember laying on the floor of my parents room during Floyd and listening to branches snapping and hitting the roof. That was a scary night.

Do you expect that the dry air it just swallowed will weaken it any? Or just hinder intensification? It seems to be the most significant amount of dry air to have been pulled into Arthur today.

I was just outside briefly (in a sheltered area away from possible missiles) and a gust almost knocked me over. I'd say that its pretty accurate.

Feeling lucky so far. All I've lost so far is my cucumber fence and some small/med tree branches.
