Circulation appears less apparent than even yesterday. Looks like a tropical wave. And I still haven't seen any surface reports anything close to the winds recon found with SFMR. Perhaps some decent rain for PR, though.

Bertha's good days are yet to come, you guys have been trying to write her off for days without success, lol.

I don't know, if it's an an open wave like wxman says it is right now, then how are it's best days to come?...It would have to completely regenerate and form an LLC again, and how would you know that would even happen?

Looking at the current visible loop and surface obs, I'm fairly certain Bertha is a tropical wave. Tropical waves can certainly become depressions/storms. They have no memory that they may have once been a TD/TS before weakening to a wave. What it will take is a decrease in wind shear in a more favorable environment east of the Bahamas. That may be its best chance to become an organized TS.

So far, St Croix has only seen strong breezes and much needed rain from this system. Great weather for sleeping in.

I can say that there have not been reports of sustained TS force winds so far in PR. Only a few gusts in the upper 20's to low 30's were reported earlier but is calmed down windwise where I am in San Juan. The only thing that is good are the rains to aliviate the drought.

Yea, that's true, but we'll see if it happens....I know some may think that you are negative about every tropical wave/storm that forms, but I've got to hand it to you, you've been right much of the time!!! So you obviously know what you are talking about..

Bertha seems to be holding on. Although, it might appear that it may have degenerated into a wave, a closed LLC remains and it is beginning to round off. Over the next few days, Bertha may peak out as a Hurricane racing NE out in open waters.
