With Genevieve bombing out, We forgot about Iselle. Still appears to have a shot to hit Hawaii as a hurricane.

Seems as of lately the CPAC has been way more than the EPAC, why so?

It's not like the CPAC had any decent homebrews. The EPAC is its supplier.

Yeah, why does anything seem to rarely originate in the CPAC? A few weeks ago there was an invest in the CPAC and it busted.

The way this storm has behaved over the last 48 hours it must be a absolute nightmare for pro-forecasters. This system does my head in.

This region usually has high shear levels, waters that are not warm enough. I don't know. Lack of waves and lows?

Eye is now open, and warming. Decent blow up from the north.

The Great Hawaiian Shear and cold SST's. Both factors are gone to some extent for this storm.

Well - Iselle became a major hurricane in the EPAC, and Julio is from the EPAC too. But I know what you mean, the traditional EPAC hurricane alley just offshore of Mexico is oddly quiet for this time of year. We have Invest 98E way over there with a 30% chance of development within 5 days though, and who knows what else might pop up. The Eastern Pacific is currently keeping pace (in named storms at least, not in ACE) with 1992 which was its' busiest season ever.

Been a while! All the passes have had bad luck for the past 10 hours. Well intact.

I'm having significant second thoughts about my earlier prediction/guess that Iselle would weaken before landfall. Look at how it's shrugging off the dry air, and how the environment ahead of it is moistening too.

Maybe Recon will find a Cat 2 storm?

I'd be thinking a Hurricane Watch might be needed soon for Maui if it trends northward...
