As for rain, nope. Those cells started popping up just overhead and immediately south and southwest. Didn't get anything at the Portastorm Weather Center.

Pleasantly surprised yesterday and this morning with the temps, I honestly didn't expect to get into the 60's, I figured low 70's at best. That all changes much sooner than later, triple digits make their return soon.

Well, it looks like rain chances for DFW this weekend have gone up a bit. NWS now has 30% for Saturday. And CBS 11 has dropped the highs a couple degrees as well. Still hot as heck though. 99-100 for the next several days. Fall is on the horizon and boy I am excited!!

I am not so sure about his winter forecast either. He is basing it all on historical data which is okay to an extent but as we know this is not turning out to be a typical El Nino. He also fails to bring in the polar vortex element which will, like last winter have some impact here.

I think just from my observations that this El Nino will have a better chance of bringing in winter precipitation if we continue to see the effects, even glancing, from the polar vortex like we did last winter. We know it doesn't take a whole lot of moisture for frozen precipitation. Locally it was a very dry winter despite the increase in icy weather.

I get that the thinking might be that the southern jet stream will deflect the cold airmass intrusions but that does not mean it will deflect it all and in my opinion that gives us a better chance, not less of a chance. Anywho, Sorry for the rant

I think the +PDO and warm pacific is good enough for subtropical jet activity more so than the past few winters. Evidence is strong that 2014 the big Ocean is much wetter than the previous years. El Nino is a weird card to play, it can be good and it can be bad for winter lovers. If there is too much El Nino, it will be consistently below average but not necessarily cold enough if Canada is flooded with warmth, which is typical with Nino's. A lot depends on the NAO/AO and EPO/PNA.

Models have performed poorly for this weekend in North Texas. Looks like some clusters of storms/MCV is going to hang around and some folks may get some decent surprise rains out of this.

It is an absolute deluge here near the airport. I've easily picked up 2 inches for the past few hours and it's just coming down in buckets. Woke up to plenty of lightning since around 5 am.

Yes this is very nice. NWS FWD mentioned this possibility in the afternoon AFD yesterday. I was just able to get my smoker from the garage to under the porch before it started pouring. Smoked pork butt is NOT intimidated by rain.
