Cocoa,
If it makes you feel at ease, go ahead and say it. :D

That is true but boy do I feel ALOT better today than I have since Isabel formed.. I am almost 99% sure that Isabel will not effect me.. That being said I will be thinking about & praying for those further up the east coast and hope Isabel at least weakens before she hits.. (if she does)

Florida is now safe Bill...this isn't a hurricane Betsy type situation as occurred in 1965. Floridians were extremely fortunate yet again...and I wonder for how long.

It's now all but assured the Florida peninsula will escape another September without a landfalling major hurricane (from what I see on the long range guidance)....which will make 39 Septembers in a row.

It's actually happened before -- because after the severe September 1848 hurricane that slammed into Tampa Bay, there wasn't another major hurricane landfall on the peninsula in September until 1896....48 years later (but there were major hurricanes in August 1871, October 1873, and August 1888).

South Floridians need to keep their guard up. It's been over fifty years since the last October major hurricane occurred there, but between 1845 and 1950....southern Florida was slammed by 9 major hurricanes in October...including a likely cat-5 in 1846 (based on a 916 mb/ 27.05" pressure recorded at Key West) :o

Chris you are a little :grrr: arent you! Us Floridians do tend to over react and think EVERY storm is coming our way... but as Andrew proved.. it only takes one & it could be the first one of the year at that!

That dramatic... only 1% because of a basically slight turn?

Well FL is already in the clear virtually, but once we see what the model say happenning, then its 100% certain. That 1% is just in case some one hacked into the models and put in their own numbers

Cheers
