Fascination Recon Observations From Chris Landsea
As some of you may know, Chris Landsea had worked with Dr. Gray for many hears. Now Chris is on his own at NOAA. He's one of the lucky guys who gets to go out on the recon missions and fly through these storms. I just got an e-mail from him describing yesterday's flights. Makes for interesting reading. Chris says there is a lack of any banding outside the eyewall, and the comparison to a big truck tire. Also noted is his remark about such storms being very stable (i.e. less of a tendency to weaken). That could be bad news for the east coast. The only good news I could see is that with virtually no squalls outside the eyewall, rainfall would be less with a storm like thls.
