The reefs on the northshore reduce the waves considerably to the point that it is usually always calm on the north as the reefs are around 20 miles off the coast. On the south the reefs are very close to the shore and whilst they do cut down the waves to some extent that is where there will be a lot of beach and coastal erosion.

I just lost power at my house and I think they are starting to drop like flys now!

Looks to make landfall probably at a near identical intensity as Fabian (which was 100 kt at the time).

Well if there is any good news, at least it looks like Bermuda won't be on the right side of the eyewall... though that really doesn't make much of a difference at all at this point. Things getting more interesting on webcams... going to be interesting to see if they stay on.

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

surface winds appear to be equal in the east and west eyewalls. The flight level winds are being transported to the surface in the western eyewall much better than in the east

Been watching the port webcam for last 15 minutes and conditions seem to be deteriorating very quickly. Waves are now routinely crashing over the wall.
Does anyone know what that structure is in the cams view?
