This has caused me so very much heartache today. Skip was such an awesome friend and mentor to me growing up as a young upcoming meteorologist. Skip, I will miss our long phone conversations about the latest model runs for the upcoming snowstorms and hurricanes. A special thanks to you for all that you taught me about models and their sensitivities and weather forecasting in general. You will always be close to my heart and you will surely be missed by many here in eastern NC and abroad. I will never be the same.

Wow, very sad for he to have passed away at such a "young" age.

Skip also had a major influence on my career, encouraging me all the way, opening doors and simply being excited about the fact that I wanted to study hurricanes at landfall. His energy was never less than spectacular, he even came out to various Lowe's hurricane fairs just to say hello to me. I knew him as a kid and owe much of my success to that fact. Sad loss but I am glad to have known him in the first place.

Skip will definitely be missed by many. I remember watching his coverage through several tropical cyclones and severe weather outbreaks. His passion for meteorology clearly shined through most during those stressful times, and he never seemed to miss a beat!

I didn't know Skip, but it is always sad to lose friends of ours. I would like to convey my condolences to Skip's family & friends, especially the ones here on S2K, which I consider my friends...ST
