Pretty Pictures of Isabel - One Mine, One Space Station

#1 Postby wxman57 » Mon Sep 15, 2003 6:08 pm

Here's mine, first:

Note the tiny eye beginning to re-form. Contrary to what Dr. Lyons is saying, I think it is a sign of impending intensification. May see a 10mb+ pressure drop in the next 24 hours.

Ok, now here's one I didn't take, as they won't let me on that space station:

wxman, that space station closeup of the eye is maybe the single most amazing hurricane picture I've ever seen. Many thanks for posting it!

Wow, those space station pics are truly breathtaking, thanks for that link! It says the pics are taken with a digital camera with 180mm lens, now why can't they put one of those on one of the weather satellites? Some type of military "national security" garbage?

Actually, we do have a high-res camera taking pictures daily. But such low Earth orbit satellites are not like the GOES satellites - they orbit about once each 90 minutes. So there's only a narrow window to snap images.Take a look at the latest shots of Isabel:
