He used to be like a kid at Christmas when the models even faintly suggested some winter mischief.

The sun is out! It is somewhat cheery but I'm already starting to miss the cold and fogging frizzle we've had off and on the past few weeks. I'm also ready for our massive February Supersnowmaggedonvortexapocalypto Doom Storm.

Mid Jan to late Feb has brought many Winter weather events to TX. More Winter on the way. If this was late Feb then I would agree Lord Heat Vader had won. RSnowD2 and C3PSnow have the force.

Is the polar vortex in that image supposed to be centered over Greenland with the broad circulation affecting the eastern half of the country including Florida?

I dont even have a freeze forecast in the next 10 days. Some polar vortex. Lowest high is a mere 48. Starting to think the cold was way overhyped.

It's a very similar pattern the European Model has been insistent on over the past few days for the end of January...in fact, todays Euro Control run had an Arctic Outbreak that would rival top 10 status if it were to materialize. 20-25 Celsius below normal from the Rockies to the East Coast

Yes, assuming it came close to verifying (big assumption this far out) but east coast is in the cross hairs at this time

In other news on the 0z GFS the Thu/Fri storm is much wetter in Texas, temps are cold, but not cold enough for frozen, however the storm looks a lot better than previous runs.
