Looks like the snow line tomorrow will stay just west of DFW tomorrow according to the HRRR and other models. Though it is a very close situation so areas east of there should keep an eye on things.

It would be a pleasant surprise, but I'm not counting on it on the eastern side of the metroplex.
I am thankful for the 0.14" of rain thus far, hope we get a whole lot more.

RT @ericfisher: Amarillo, TX has gotten more snow in a few hours tonight (8") than Boston, NYC, and Philly have had all season. #txwx

Nice rain for most of the evening so far in Wichita county. It's suppose to continue throughout the night. Although we are forecasted to get 1-3" of snow, I really don't see it happening. Hopefully next time.

Food for thought... The freezing layer is apparently around 2,600 feet above ground level over DFW, while the models believe the freezing layer to be around 4,000 feet.

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

It does seem that at least a rain snow mix is likely in DFW.

Re: Texas Winter 2014-2015
Rain has transitioned to snow near San Angelo this morning around 3:00 AM and may cause some ptype issues N and W of the Metroplex. The Coastal low/trough is beginning to organize along the Lower Texas Coast at this hour. Rain with embedded elevated storms should increase today along and N of the surface boundary. QPF is still suggesting 2+ inches of rainfall across SE Texas into Louisiana today into tonight before the surface low shifts E. The cold core upper trough shifts E on Friday and should end our precipitation chances. The longer range guidance continues to advertise a significant winter storm across our Region as we end January and begin February.

0.90" so far - I'll take it !!! Maybe we can get some more, the ground is saturated, runoff is a great thing.

Sheets of cold, bone-chilling rain falling with already 1.3" in the rain gauge. Temps in the mid 40s. Ugh. This weather is downright dreadful. And to make it worse, it looks like a winter storm threat for much of the state in a little over a week.
I miss summer.

Currently 43 with 1.2" overnight and still coming down steadily. Around a foot off snow around Amarillo. Maybe a brief change to snow NW of DFW this morning.
The next system looks to be bringing to bring site to West Texas. This system is a bit colder aloft so snow will likely be seen anywhere north of I-20 and maybe south of there. There will not be a while lot of moisture to work with so Ian not expecting more than an isolated inch of accumulation if any.

Send some of that cold rain here, Portastorm. It's 60 degrees and only a light mist across Houston. It's been so hot here that I've resorted to sleeping naked on a large block of ice each night. If this keeps up I'll be moving to the North Pole to keep cool.

Good soaking rain right over DFW airport. January has been a wet month. The ULL will kick out tonight from far West Texas as snow breaks out from KMAF to near San Angelo. The precip shield will expand again in association of its passage and this is our best shot at seeing anything tonight into tomorrow morning

How's that next batch of cold air and possibly winter precipitation looking?

That is it. I am done. I am moving. I wonder if there are historian jobs in Alaska...? Sigh...

Hubby is at the Denton airport. One or two random flakes hitting the windshield every couple of minutes. Nothing really visible.

I went to my car, thought it was all rain but then saw sleet pellets on my car along with rain droplets.
