I'm surprised that wxman57 didn't mention the snow which the 12z GFS forecasts for areas just southwest of Houston to Waco to Lubbock and areas west of that to the state border. Sure, it's in La-La Land (beyond 300 hrs) but is on there.

I am just tired Porta. I am tired the Browns let you down. I am tired that we all get up for this and whammo smacko, nuffin. I am tired that you were taken by the Borg. Then we were flip flop flip all over the place. Leads a man to question everything. Sigh.

I hadn't seen that, Portastorm. I saw that the GFS was not indicating any significant precip for Houston. I'm sure that map will verify:

Perhaps you should announce a planned shutdown of Austin for late next week due to snowfall?

So how much snow for Amarillo this weekend? I'm considering a drive up there just so I can see what snow looks like again.

This would be so nice - 12Z GFS 10 day run total precip

Euro is another example of run to run variables. So much cold air is sitting in Canada, NW Canada, building a ridge in NW NA or having GOA kick in is two drastic differences to how that air mass moves. There is a lot of cold sitting up there

Re: Texas Winter 2014-2015
12Z Euro shows the cold front late next week entering Texas. Core of the cold air isn't moving south, though, it's moving southeastward toward the Great Lakes. Warming across Alaska and NW Canada after next week's outbreak.

Giant upper low continues over Alaska at day 10. A bit farther west than now, but still way too far east to build prolonged cold into NW Canada.

Meanwhile, the sky is clear and temps are in the mid to upper 70s across much of Texas today. Not too bad for winter weather.

Re: Texas Winter 2014-2015
I haven't seen any model runs indicating prolonged cold in Alaska & NW Canada. It moves in then moves out fast. Hard to get really cold down here with that pattern. I thought we'd have more ice events and extreme cold along the Gulf coast this winter. It's not looking like that will verify.

Seems like in the long run Feb temps look to be below normal up until mid month, but just not low enough to snow. But low enough to be uncomfortable, damp, raw, and put a damper on any outdoor fun

Come on Porta, you know that Heat Miser only mentions model runs/trends that favor bicycle riding weather!
As sure as shooting, if Ntxw or someone else (like you, before that Borg incident) even mentions a chilly run or trend that favors Texas, a "heated" rebuttal from Lord Vader is only minutes away.
He not only seems to have control of the thermostat this year, he also seems to have the mute button to quash any winter weather hope on this thread.

I took the dog for a walk and was nearly sweating. It hasn't been a bitterly cold winter but I would say it has been a relatively average one with quite a few cool snaps, just not too many cold snaps. It felt nice to walk the dog without having to bundle up and grab a jacket going out there. That being said, I don't look forward to those 80 degree days and the summer, NO WAY. My poor dog will never get any exercise in that kind of heat. I can at least bundle up in the cold.
