I am really tempted to say good riddance... tired of wasting time and energy on it!
This storm on Mon/Tue is even trending bad back east in Alabama where I used to live. Horrible...

That arctic high is screaming overhead right now here in western north carolina. 50 mph gusts and temps dropping below 20 degrees quickly from 40 degrees an hour or so ago. I can't imagine what its like on some of the higher peaks right now

What a strange set up for today. Front coming in from the NE and a surface low from the SW. Looks like decent rain for North Texas today. I think icing will stay north of Texas tonight given the cold being blocked by the mountains over AR. The models overnight want to lose the precip as it moves into North Texas Tuesday morning, but as we have seen usually with strong forcing it will continue further east than modeled so light snow is still very possible over North and maybe NE Texas before noon on Tuesday. We could see mid to upper 20s Wednesday morning over NE Texas.

Looks like the models are at least showing continued cool air and precip In a few waves through the end of the month. Specifics are far from certain though.

I feel bad for y'all. We've been in your boat all winter but it looks as if we might get our storm starting tonight. It's been awhile since I've seen the local mets go nuts about a winter storm. As a teacher with 10 built in snow days in our district (used none thus far), I'm pretty happy to have a break.
Hope y'all get your's next weekend.

We've had a bunch of great winters though so we can't be too greedy... I feel bad for Brent though since he's new to Texas.

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

Current temp is around 50 and looks like the backdoor front is through here. There may be a bit of warming this afternoon though I doubt much with clouds cover likely continuing through the day. The Arctic front should pass through tonight bringing a shot at freezing rain to far NE TX. As the precip ends tomorrow morning there could be a period of light sleet across northern Texas as the deeper cold rushes in. Tomorrow afternoon should stay dry for most. The main low reaches us tomorrow night and temps look good for snow though the models are now showing pretty dry air at the mid levels limiting things to just flurries without this layer of dry air we could get a decent snow.

Speak for yourself. I've had four consecutive winters that have sucked.

Agreed 100% Porta! The Austin snow drought is getting really old! I'm not a Cubs fan but I feel like they do. "There's always next year."

Any post should not be taken as a forecast. I am just an amateur living the dream.

Same over here in LA. I honestly can't remember when we had the gfs showing so many fantasy winter storms hitting the deep south and nothing materialized. Even though hurricane season is looking to be a dud, im sure the gfs will keep us greatly entertained

Time for a Bones sighting on this winter?
