Also from the 0z GFS... Dallas now stays close to or below freezing all day Tuesday too... so through Wednesday morning... and barely gets into the 40s Wed/Thu before the snowstorm on Friday.
I'm having shades of Super Bowl 2011 week LOL(except I wasn't here for that)

The way the models have underestimated the strength of cold fronts in recent weeks - and wondering if there might be some snow/sleet covering the ground - I'm wondering if 40s might be a bit too high.

Just a cat 4. We need to budge that about a hundred more miles south so that it engulfs Austin. Our fearless leader needs to be re-energized, that would be a cat 5 in the gulf!

Hmmm...we're at 254 pages right now for this winter.
Ntxw, what do you think the over/under is on us getting to 400 this next week if there are indeed two winter storms?

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing snow and/or sleet here next week.
But I'd rather see Portastorm get dumped on!

300 will be easy this week and late week could easily add another 50 pages I think if we get snow again. 400 is possible if we can get SE and Central Texas involved, lots of posters there.

Here... this will liven things upAn 8-day snow map... not something out in lala land
If - IF - that were to materialize, I don't think I've ever seen such extensive snow cover across the Lower 48.
That would be something and if the snow would creep a little into Florida every state (except Hawaii?) would have some snow on the ground !

I think I remember it happening not too long ago , within the last couple of winters

I'm not sure how many times there's been, but the last time it happened was Feb 12th, 2010. Snowmaggedon dumped snow from Texas to Florida and there was snow on top of Mauna Kea. All 50 states.

and we've already gone from 50 down to 40s... so who knows where the bottom is.
Nothing would surprise me.

Just to remind everyone what happened December 2013. A somewhat similar event unfolded as we are beginning to see now. Models honed in as the event was a few days away after losing it. The temp progs were in the upper 20s as it is forecasted now and qpf was within the 0.50 to 0.75. Sleet turned DFW into a tomb of ice, it melted and refroze. We could be looking at a similar event here but perhaps not quite the amount of freezing rain that occurred then but sleet will make the roads quite similar if it falls in such amounts.

I got to thinking about that earlier when I saw the 2nd wave pop up on Tuesday... wasn't there more freezing drizzle or something the day after?
At first I was kind of like "I don't think this will be on the scale of 2013" but more and more evidence is making me wonder...

CBS 11 only has 36 on Tuesday... WFAA only had 37... the local mets are slowly catching on... and they still had it dry on Tuesday,,

FW mentioned in a discussion they are considering extending the watch (to be warned quite likely) through Tuesday which makes sense given it's likely to persist at least in lighter form. Couple school days cancellations in the works perhaps?
WITH REGARDS TO THE UPCOMING WINTER WEATHER EVENT...NO CHANGES ARE
BEING MADE AT THIS TIME TO THE CURRENT FORECAST AND PRODUCTS
BUT THE WATCH. IF THE REMAINDER OF THE 00Z DATA SUGGEST FROZEN
PRECIPITATION WILL CONTINUE INTO TUESDAY...THE WATCH MAY HAVE TO
BE EXTENDED BEYOND MONDAY WITH EITHER THE OVERNIGHT FORECAST
PACKAGE OR THE SATURDAY PACKAGE.
