Well I was extremely excited.. You know diff that is to have down here? We are usually moisture deprived.. as well as the fact that Del Rio always runs warmer than anyone else in central texas in the winter.. heheh

I'm not seeing any guidance really support lift within the next 12 hours across the state aside from light drizzle/frz drizzle. The bulk of the next lift won't come until the ULL comes out Tues night/Weds morning.

Looking at the water vapor, the trend doesn't seem to be our friend, at least for now. Looks like we're losing a lot of the moisture coming out of NE Mexico.

Went to freezing rain primarily for a bit but back to good sleet now. I'd say we have .5" of sleet and .1" of freezing rain.

It's a shame you're letting your warm bias get in the way of enjoying a truly rare event. Snowflakes falling on Del Rioans doesn't happen very often. I guess this late blast of winter is making you cranky.

Portastorm, take it easy on the Heat Miser! He's got a bit of a reason to be cranky today after his assurances a week or two ago that winter was over in Texas were done in by this arctic front and sleet event. I mean, who knew that it could still turn wintertime in Texas during late February, even down in Del Rio?

But I guess he will be ok. After laying low yesterday, it looks as if he has fully recovered and is now looking for his next forecasting triumph against pesky Old Man Winter and his sidekick Jack Frost.

What happened to what the HRRR was showing last night? I seem to recall an active radar picture for much of the southern half of the state, and enough frozen precip for Austin to consider an upgrade to WSW?

We've got right at 1/4" at my house, maybe 1/3" , Denton has 1" plus. About what I expected. But our dear friend Lucy has broken fingers and hand because Charlie kicked the football!!!

Lowering standards? I thought accumulating snow was the deciding factor.

I'm delighted with the last 24 hours, we got 3/4" of rain plus roughly 3/10" of sleet. It's covering the driveway and sidewalk. Accumulating wintry precip qualifies as kicking the football for me.

Temp has gone up to 33 here with drizzle. other than the light drizzle returns I've been seeing I don't see anything more than that at least for the short term.

I don't recall seeing anything like that for this time period from the HRRR (which doesn't go out to tonight from last night). Are you sure it wasn't from the SREF? I don't follow the SREF guidance. There isn't a source of lift out there though, it just isn't there. Maybe mid level moisture coming from MX for drizzle but there's no strong mechanism of lift until Tuesday night/Weds.

Looks like my areas best shot at more winter weather seems to be Thursday-Friday night. I haven't looked at anything other than the NWS forecast so I could be wrong. 23 with light snow falling here currently.
