Slept with just a sheet and an open window by morning when the blanket got too hot.

well it has certainly warmed up dramatically over the past couple of days since the record cold. Now it even feels almost too hot if you are out in the sun. SE winds, blue skies, very tropical looking. Actually similar to a summer day with an east wind pattern, just cooler. No doubt the 90F+ days are around the corner.

Tornado Watch has been issued by the SPC for portions of the Florida Panhandle and Southwest GA until Midnight tonight CST. Dynamics are favorable as the warm sector is lifting north and severe thunderstorms and possible tornadoes may occur later tonight.

The wind and rain woke me up this morning at 5 AM it was very fierce for five minutes, that's how long the rain lasted.

GFS has gone crazy again, it has a strong cold front coming through FL by the end of next week. There is no way it will come to fruition with such negative PNA forecasted by the ensembles along with the NAO positive and strong Caribbean ridge for next week.
The Euro has the correct solution.

I agree with that NDG. Pretty good ridging looks to get estabished from the Western Caribbean and the GOM as a full, well established trough looks to set up across the Western US, Rockies and the Northern Plains for the early part of next week, then migrate eastward to the Midwest and to the Northeast U.S. late next week. The ridge I believe will shunt the coldest of air well to the north of Florida late tis week, and I don't see any freezes for North Florida for at least the next 10 days
Meanwhile, I will be leaving today to spend the weekend up in Charlotte. Looks like a hybrid cold air damming event will take place up there through this weekend as a strong 1040mb High will slde east toward the Mid-Atlantic coast by Saturday night. This will "wedge" that cold air down the Lee of the Appalachians. Cold, cloudy conditions expected up there with highs in the upper 30s for Saturday and Sunday, lows around freezing on Sunday morning, with rain moving in possibly late Saturday into the day Sunday. Hopefully heights will rise enough by Sunday with enough warm air aloft to prevent any freezing rain from occuring while I am there.

Winter is done. Starting tomorrow warm air floods back north and a stretch of great spring weather looks to be in the cards. Spring is my favorite shoulder season as it brings the most reliable warm and sunny days. in a couple of months we'll be getting ready to enter the sweat box so I hope everyone enjoys the March/April timeframe.

I won't rule out seeing probably 1 more cold spell up here in Jax. We almost always get a late season cold spell which leads to a freeze sometime in March. On average, our last freeze date here in Jax is February 26, which was yesterday.
Now, down in central peninsula, very small chance of seeing any more freezes from this point on. So, definitely you all down there are just about in the clear.

Re: Florida Weather
Amazing convergence precipitation going on this morning around Port St Lucie and just north of Jupiter Inlet, radar estimating 2-3" of rain so far this morning.

Re: Florida Weather
Good morning everyone. I can assure all of you that it is still winter here in the NC Piedmont region. I am here in Charlotte for a convention and it is overcast and 31 degrees. There are areas in the Charlotte metro region that still has some residual snow on the ground from a couple of days ago. Definitely a hybrid cold air damming event here this weekend. A huge 1041 mb Arctic High centered over the central Appalachians early tgis morning is wedging that cold air right down Lee of the Appalachians right into this area. Tonight into Sunday morning could be a concern sas isentrophic lift could bring precip in here and light freezing rain could occur in this time frame. Otherwise, the wedge here will jkeep clouds in here and temps will hold in the 30s all day today and into tomorrow.
That big arctic High is also giving everyone back home a strong northeast wind That onshore gradient will continue back home through tonight.
Hope everyone will have a great weekend as I shiver here in Charlotte until I get back to Jax on Monday. Peeked at the models before leaving home yesterday and temps should reach the low 70s upon my return home Monday!! That sounds really good right now and I look forward to it for sure!

Re: Florida Weather
NDG, Good morning. LOL, yeah, I will do my very best not to bring this cold back home with me for sure. I was hoping that the warm nose aloft will bring the precip that does fall as an all rain event, but that cold air wedging down at the surface into this region appears that it will be around 30 degrees overnight and early Sunday and that would cause the rain to freeze on contact for sure. Uggh. Good news is that it should not be a long duration event as warm advection aloft should warm the temps above freezing by 10:00 tomorrow morning and it should be all rain thereafter

Re: Florida Weather
70's here today. Spate of mid 80's for the next 5 days.
There's a few Florida cities listed with record warm winters on TWC site.

yep. getting alot of training here in hollywood,fl. probably had atleast 2" by me since this morning.

Street Flooding in Aventura/Hallandale Beach area, we've had at least 5' of rain and it's still coming down in sheets!
