So much for sleeping tonight. I live in Denton County, just south of Denton. It appears the Snow Gods favor me tonight.

Got work in the morning as of now....... :froze:

Tonight we freeze in Hell!!!!!!

The only difference being most of the TV Mets (sans Mr. Delkus) are hinting at the fact that some places could get buried. I don't believe they even mentioned that possibility five years ago.

I don't believe we were in a warning then either............

:uarrow: I'm pretty sure that's correct. Ntxw hit it on the head the other day when he talked about the NWS (and TV mets, as I recall) only calling for one or two inches initially. They never caught up to the storm until it was over.

That would be a nice surprise for all of us in the Austin area.

The RGEM is def the closest on the current trends and I am hoping it continues. It had been pretty good this season at sniffing out things. The NAM had seemed to be too fat north on things though it fits have support of other models, but those models are not handling the current trends all that well. Given this I have a hard time seeing the main band seeing up as far north as most models show.
I will go with up to a half inch of sleet for my area from this first batch followed by 3"+ form the main system and maybe much more. That is a bad combo for the roads especially if temps struggle to get above freezing tomorrow.

:uarrow: I don't know, looks like a pretty good band building to the NE across I-20 from Abilene to NW of Fort Worth at the moment. You may be right, but a lot of things seem to have lined up tonight for the folks north of I-20 and maybe even north of I-30.

We have plenty of room here at the inn in Texarkana if anyone wants to come over and play in the snow tomorrow. We have big plans for four wheeler riding, snow angels, trampoline jumping, snow ice cream making, and snowman making, after chores, of course. The kiddos are so excited. Ok, the youngest two are 3 and 1 so maybe I'm the most excited of all. They don't know yet what to expect.

Anyone have any other cool ideas for fun stuff to do on a farm when you get (hopefully) 4+ inches of snow? Our property is on a hill.

:uarrow: And it looka like the 2 bands may collide, and lets not forget, this isn't the main precip, this is bonus precip. Isn't that what happened in 2010?

Also seeing some returns break out south and southwest of Lubbock. They are moving northeast, might get Yukon Cornelius and the folks around Wichita Falls in the game overnight.

Snowball fight! I haven't had a good snowball fight in a while. 2010 to be exact.

Looks like potentially one of those events that north Texas folks need to be careful what they wish for. :double: :froze:

Yes sir, Ntxw mentioned that a bit earlier tonight. Exactly what happened.

Wherever this finally bombs out and drops the biggest amount of snow, I think it looks almost like a carbon copy of the Snowmageddon event. I wonder if some folks at Fort Worth NWS aren't looking back at that system to try and avoid the mistakes they made back then?

If we're wishing, then I'm wishing it to move right into downtown Austin and sit over the UT campus. That would make our fearless leader ecstatic!

FYI, NWS has put up a graphic this evening about the potential for snow again on Friday.

And Steve LaNore, TV met at KXII-TV Channel 12 in Denison/Sherman mentioned it tonight and seemed pretty confident it's going to happen.

If Portastorm and ATX miss out tonight and in the morning, hopefully they'll get into the act on Friday.

Texas Storm Chasers:

1030PM Update: Looks like most of D/FW will see 1 to 4 inches of snow Wednesday Morning making for a unpleasant morning commute. There's the potential for a heavier band of snow to set up somewhere in D/FW that could give a couple folks up to 6 inches of snow. We won't know where that is until it actually gets going around 2 AM. Accumulating snow will spread east/northeast into Arkansas and Louisiana from there so Northeast Texas will be getting in on the action too. Don't be surprised if you wake up with a few surprises! We'll be here all night posting updates. -DavidR
