To me it looks like the Metroplex will see heavy snow bands from 7 to 10. I would expect 2-5". In the Tyler area it looks to be 8-12 with 2-5". For Texarkana I would say 9-1 with 3-6".

It was heavy and solid. Now it's a mix of rain and sleet with sleet being the heavier of the 2. This system is bi-polar for sure!

It is certainly taking its sweet time passing over. The snow will come!!! I didn't stay awake all night for nothing.
The totals just may be a bit lower than expected.

It might be that the storm totals could be a bit lower than expected, but it could easily be in line with previous projections, just starting a bit later due to the slower movement of the upper level low. The dynamics still look very strong on the satellite and models, so it might be that we have our biggest snows at 6am to 9am instead of 4am to 8am.

I hope so. Our ground temp keeps flipping between 31 and 32 every few minutes. I need it to hit 31 and stay put, unless it wants to get colder!

It's certainly possible and everyone knows I am wishing for it. It just seems like a small time frame to drop that amount of snow. If those high totals do show up, it's going to be some of the heaviest snow we have seen around here.

It does look like the snow will be very heavy. I could see extended periods of 2"/hr+ rates falling in big wet flakes.

It's starting...! Sleet/rain mix here. About 70/30 sleet right now. Most we've had all night.

The 10Z HRRR looks pretty good though I would lower the totals over the NE Metroplex as the changeover is slew to occur. It still looks like 3"+ pretty easilyfor all areas that are cold enough.

It really doesn't matter what the surface temps are since the snow would melt on the way down and turn to rain. It can actually snow in 39F surface temperatures, so upper level temperatures are much more important. Temperatures down below must go below freezing in the total atmospheric column for it to start snowing. Surface temperatures only matter on whether it will melt or not on the ground. But usually heavy accumulations of sleet or snow will stick on the ground if the temperature is near freezing.
