But now they've gotten burned a little bit in the other direction! :)

Orangeblood said it well earlier. One event does not decide the outcome of the next event. As a forecaster they should look at how things are not what they were. December 2013 caught people off guard because they didn't believe due to the fluke that happened a week earlier in November.

:uarrow: I've gotten it good here, but like Ntxw said, the winners are the folks between Denton and Decatur as of right now. I'll take what I got though! :D

From Steve McCauley on Facebook a few moments ago:

"New Personal Best: 3 hours 16 minutes to get home today! Absolute traffic nightmare. Took me 2 hours 10 minutes to drive from SMU to downtown Dallas. Every side street was also packed. Complete and utter gridlock.

But once I cleared Dallas...smooth sailing all the way to Kaufman County with dry roads and just a dusting of snow. What a difference 30 miles can make!"

Channel 12 KXII-TV met Steve LaNore says he just measured 3-inches at the studio in Sherman. A viewer from Whitesboro reports 4-inches there.

Well, if this continues, then I'll admit it ... the fact that my weather forecasts are full of the same stuff which comes out of Bevo's behind.

I think the WAA is definitely coming, I posted about it yesterday, but there's going to be a race between WAA and wetbulbing here in central tx and the hillco.

Well Porta, been 33 here for the last hour after quickly dropping from 36, and dew point up to 30. Touch and go either way on your forecast. :)

I have 3" in my rain gauge just east of Addison. I'm going to bring it in tonight and let it melt. I'll post the ratio later.

Still snowing, though. Everything but the RGEM said it would stop snowing at 11 AM....

Yeah, I remember that the forecaster that wrote the discussion yesterday evening for Fort Worth NWS said that past history showed that these types of systems NEVER produce more than four inches of snow in the area.

I remember thinking hmmmmmm, they might not have wanted to make such a definitive statement like that. Especially in a week when a lot of DFW people woke up the other morning and went "Hey, where's the snow?!?"

Yep, bad bad week for the DFW NWS and mets....for the sake of their families, I guess its a good thing they don't get paid on performance!!! The RGEM had that band on its past few runs (had 6-7 inches around Decatur), still cannot believe the Fort Worth office ignored that model after what happened earlier in the week. Outside of dhweather, most on here were screaming not ignore it, it's been on fire lately

Really cold day to match the snow here. It was 19 most of the day with a windchill of 0 or 1. It's warmed up to 20 now!

Right around 4 inches here and still flurries. I can't figure out how to post pictures- even tried it via imageshack...I'll keep trying. Also, I checked NWS and it had a graphic that included my location within the scalloped area and showing the possibility of one more inch of snow by 6pm....hmmm

Scratch that- went back and Just checked that again and the line moved up

33 here but the dew point which started out at 27 a couple of hours ago is now at 32. I'm not expecting much other than a cold rain.

haha, NWS can't be serious.....To upgrade the northern counties to Warnings at this point in the game is a joke. what's the point, Because it fits their rulebook ? we need more common sense in the weather forecasting community. Sorry for the rant but today caused a lot more harm than was necessary because kids were sent to school, work etc. creating one of the worst gridlocks I've ever seen.

Yeah it's too late now, even that band is winding down. The warnings won't do any good as the damage has already been done. Plows would've been useful today.

:uarrow: Missed this due to focusing on the snow accumulation numbers mentioned above. The timing of this warning is through 6 p.m. tomorrow evening (Saturday).

Guess the temps will stay near below (or near) freezing all day tomorrow. Freezing drizzle on top of this snow for a number of hours will be quite the driving mess overnight and in the morning.
