If I hadn't looked at the calendar I would kind of assume it is the middle of summer here with Severe T-Storms and Flooding widespread, and it feels like summer somewhat too!

Yeah we got some pretty good lightning around Delray here right now. Certainly looks like what an afternoon thunderstorm would look like in the middle of summer. Also several areas of deep reds showing up on the radar across South Florida from Naples, over the Everglades, and into SE Florida so it also looks "summer-like" for sure. Looks like a lot of rain up your way too Stormexpert and noticed the Honda Classic Golf tournament in Palm Beach Gardens got cancelled.

NWS Miami snippet:

.DISCUSSION...
HEAVY RAINFALL CONTINUES TO FALL ALONG THE EAST COAST THIS
AFTERNOON. RAINFALL RATES AS HIGH AS 5 INCHES PER HOUR WERE
OCCURRING TODAY
. ANOTHER ROUND OF HEAVY RAIN WAS FALLING ACROSS

AND IT CONTINUED TO RAIN THERE. NUMEROUS REPORTS OF STREET
FLOODING WERE RECEIVED FROM MIAMI BEACH TO FORT LAUDERDALE. THE
CELL THAT WAS ACROSS PORT ST LUCIE THIS MORNING MOVED SLOWLY
SOUTHWARD AND MADE IT INTO PALM BEACH COUNTY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON.
OTHER SHOWERS AND STORMS WERE MOVING NORTHWARD AND MERGING INTO
THE PRIMARY CELL THAT WAS MOVING SLOWLY SOUTHWARD. HEAVY RAINFALL
AND STREET FLOODING WERE OBSERVED ACROSS NORTHEASTERN PARTS OF
PALM BEACH COUNTY. OTHER SHOWERS AND STORMS WERE LOCATED ACROSS

Once again it definitely looked summer-like on the radar this afternoon! This was all thanks to a stalled front located over Palm Beach County, along with a coastal trough located along the SE FL coast, and with a strong onshore flow from the NE and the Jet Stream coming from the SW this helped produce these meandering summer-like showers and storms we saw today. This will all lift out tomorrow, but we will still see showers and MAYBE an isolated thunderstorm with sun and clouds mixed. Then expect a warmup into the low-mid 80's for the Monday-Thursday time frame with plenty of sunshine!
:sun:

Next Friday-Sunday could feature another stalled front over Florida but that is still too far out to focus in on.

It sure was a gloomy day here as well, saw the Palm Beach county storm to my north earlier this afternoon! However, we managed to dodge almost all the rain here in western Broward, just had some drizzle and that's about it. Not even 1/2 an inch of rain locally speaking. Was humid and warm, just like June. South Florida sure showed off its tropical side today, bringing back "summer" yet again during a winter month. That's the thing about South FL, it can feel like summer anytime of year given the right conditions. Too bad the golfers got bummed!

Hope we get a nice cooldown sometime in March, before the prolongued heat & humidity returns. :)

Wow, quite a day for the gang dow in South Florida. I saw that video of the golf tournament and it darn near looked like a hurricane. That was an impressive downburst from a thunderstorm at that tournament.

Meanwhile, I am in Charlotte and freezing rain is occuring here withe temperature at 31 degrees. Uggh!! Hopefully, temperatures here will get above freezing by 11:00 or noon. Cold and dereary here and I can't wait to get home tomorrow where temps in the 70s will be there awaiting me 8-)

Spring is definitely here at least for central and southern FL. South FL beaches were packed today by the snowbirds.

Some pop up summer like showers this afternoon across central and SW FL. I had a quick heavy shower come through my neighborhood and as quickly as it ended the sun came out.

Bottom-right of pic says ft laud. No way that would be Daytona or anywhere in central fl with all those mature coconut palms 8-)

:uarrow: Gatorcane is correct, that was Ft Lauderdale today. No coconut palm trees in Daytona and in Cocoa Beach they are found far in between. Freezes of 2010 killed a lot of them across north central FL's beaches.

Big shift to summer-like. Rain last 2 days. Heat lifted and convected overhead trough.

Through Wednesday for cfla it will be downright hot and humid. Heck, even today we had a summer type seabreeze setup with both seabreezes clearly defined (west coast even more clearly defined) , and a healthy cumulus field. Additionally clfa is under an unstable airmass too. A taste of summer, ahhhh

Well, at least the early March version. You can still feel the marine chill out here.

Too hot, I miss the cold! One thing I'm looking forward to as we head into the spring is that the snowbirds will finally start going back up north.

Looks like South Florida's winter has ended a few weeks early and spring has started off with a warm bang! Strong East to Southeast flow has resulted in low-mid 80's for highs along the East Coast of FL and mid-upper 80's for highs inland and along the West Coast, there are even seabreezes developing in the early afternoon and drifting west!
