When I was in high school, I actually created a short-lived "texas winter" website on Wordpress. It only lasted a season or two, but it was actually a fun experiment. There aren't many sites dedicated to winter in texas, so the site did well in the Google rankings. People were commenting on blogs, posting their photos, etc.
You and NTXW should start up a site. I'd trust your forecasts over the mets on TV.
