The growing area of dry air west of El Paso is our storm. The leading edge of that dry air is where the convection will develop later over the cold dome. Think of it like a dry line.

Edit: Additionally, I can confirm that even though radar returns don't impress me right now over Temple, TX, the amount of precip falling from those returns is amazing. Must be completely saturated in most of the precipitating layer.

My only explanation for these reports of "flakes" is that there is some mist mixed in with the rain that is light enough to be carried by the wind. I have noticed it before and I will report what I see if I go outside for lunch.

Bell, McLennan, Coryell & Lampasas counties just added into the WSW. Bell is my county.

Edit: It's a usually forgotten county because it's one of the most southern counties under the FW NWS umbrella.

Henderson and Navarro added to warning area by FWD. I expect SHV to do the same for Smith and Gregg this afternoon.

Wichita Falls now reporting snow, with sustained winds at 26... gusts to 35.

This will not be the kind of storm to take a stroll in.

I work in WF and haven't seen any snow yet. It's been predominantly freezing rain with a little sleet mixed in.

This will not be the kind of storm to take a stroll in.

Some spots NW of the Metroplex will see near blizzard conditions later today where the precip type is snow.

I would definitely take a stroll in it just to experience it. The stroll would last about 2 minutes, but I'd do it.

I expect they will bring northern Smith and maybe Gregg up to at least what they show for the warning areas. Southern Smith is more questionable right now.

On top of everything we are discussing remember that this will all fall during the night so there will be no sun to warm the ground so things should stick faster than expected.
