They're evacutating my school (North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics) which is in Durham down the road from Duke. Now I get to go back home near the shore. The stupidity---to evacuate from 4 hours inland. Just thought I'd drop the note to let people get an idea of what the excess media hype has caused.

Well I'll tell you what, I was in Goldsboro in 1999 when a storm came through there and there were tornadoes and rain and flooding and lots of damage and those folks were not any happier than if they had lived on or near the coast. So be thankful that someone cares enough and is looking out for you. Dont be such an ingrate.

I don't know if you remember what happened in Greenville during Floyd but they had major problems at the university. My sister was attending at the time and it was no picnic to have no air/lights/running hot water due to the flooding and that was for the lucky ones. Many of the students lost their houses due to the floods. There were no classes for 2 weeks if I remember right. How was the university suppose to cope with all this? And Floyd was only a Cat 2.
Please don't take this as yelling or anything like that. Just wanted to point it out as this is what whomever decided to make this discission was contemplating. They probably feel the students are for the most part better off with family and friends where their needs can be better met in a disaster situation then having to hope that the school they are attending can meet large amounts of students needs accuring at such a time.
