Hampton Roads VA Meterologists

Our local mets all state that while strengthening of Isabelle is theoretically possible, they do not believe that this will happen and that she will remain at about the same intensity and stay on the current track as identified by NHC...versus track being broadcast yesterday. With the shifted forcast track further inland none of the Hampton Roads area have plans for evacuations at this time, and they have told everyone but those who live within 3 blocks of the ocean or in mobile homes to just plan on riding the storm out in your home....Your Thoughts :?:

I can see why they are "cautiously optimistic" to steal a quote from Don Slater (the local NBC met) and what I think is even scarier is that all of the NAVY--ships, planes and even the people not on the ships are being evacuated--it just scares me that nobody else has decided to blow the horn and get people out. I wonder if these guys know they are truly playing Russian Roulette or they got some good news info.

We were told here on OBX that all traffic was being detoured via E City, so as not to compound your evac situation up your way.....Hmmmmm

LMAO! Evac--What Evac?!? You mean to tell me somebody in Hampton Roads is evacuating?? (Note the Sarcasm!)

BTW--What I think is very interesting also is that many local (Hampton Roads and North Carolina schools) private and/or outlying public schools have closed or will close tomorrow, thursday and friday--except for the major Hampton Roads cities (Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Newport News, Hampton, Williamsburg) even though shelters have already been "set up" and are ready to be activated...

Meanwhile, I know thats nuts but of even more interesting note is that Newport News and Portsmouth Courts and offices will be closed Thursday and Friday yet no word on the schools...HURRY UP! LOL

I noticed the same thing...it seems really strange to me. I just hope THEY are right and the folks here who have been calling for massive reintensification are really, really wrong...or we're toast.
