More than that (it appears that an eye may be forming again), it looks like the current east coast trough is starting to wash out.

But that next trough looks like it's in a really big hurry to get to the east coast, too.

The definition of a rapidly deepening hurricane is a pressure drop averaging 1.75 mb/hr over 24 hours (42 mb on one day), and the definition of explosive deepening is 2.5 mb/hr over 12 hours, or a drop of 30 mb in half a day.
