Well I'm honestly having a problem thinking of any system that took too long to name other than good old Humberto in 2007. I still refuse to criticize the NHC on this but I'm genuinely confused as to why they won't go ahead and name it and issue warnings: it looks to be ramping up more and more quickly. I just don't see what the harm would be since there certainly is a decent chance it could make cat 1 and there's not much time left. I would love to know why they are hesitant but they're not saying...

So let me ask a question. What is this disturbance lacking that Grace had back in 2003?

If I was an OCM, I would be tempted to just call it Bill, no matter what the official word is. In my opinion, this is almost clearly a tropical storm, and watches and warnings should be posted. I know they're working on that, right?

Careful with the NHC-bashing, folks - unless you want an S2K vacation...

There has to be something we do not know. Something. To be this hesitant...It could be a Cat 1 before landfall....I think Matagorda to Galveston...

Heck no, my 2:11pm flight out of Chicago is now set to depart at 9:15pm. I'll be home by 1am if I'm lucky.

I'm not about to say this will be a hurricane at landfall, but I really am curious as to why this isn't upgraded yet. It really does look like the LLC is there, even if it's not the most organized system ever seen.

Maybe if I was there I would get it....but I tend to think I still wouldn't.

In any event, I could see this getting to about 50-60 mph, perhaps a little stronger. I just don't know that it will have enough time to become a hurricane, being that it is June. But we'll find out, and keep Humberto in mind if you live in that area!

This is insane, I don't think I've ever seen them wait this long. Many businesses & city events operate solely off of warnings/watches. The coast from Corpus - Port Lavaca - Galveston needs a warning imo. Many would argue NOW would be too late..

Nothing that SouthernMet posts, is an official forecast, nor does it reflect views of STORM2K.. SouthernMet is just adding to the great discussions on STORM2K.. Refer to NWS for official forecasts.

Looks to be chugging WNW IMO. My fear is the rains. Rain is already happening across Texas. When Bill, err, Proto-BILL arrives? Whoa Nelly its gonna be interesting to watch............Has Carlos's shield been tapped for moisture streaming into Texas as well? It looked like it was this morning......be safe everyone....alert everyone you can in the path of this coming flood.....
