All y'all stay safe up there!
As a veteran of three hurricanes here on the gulf coast I remember the tense "waiting for the storm" time. Get in those last showers (blow dryer time!) before it arrives! I, too, am looking forward to reading your "check-in" posts as I have friends and family in Va. Beach, central Va., and MD.
My thoughts and prayers are with y'all!

My wife's family is from Rockville, MD... if you hear any news from there later, would be glad to hear it. Her brother will be quite busy I suspect... fire chief for Bethesda.
My email is robroach@hotmail.com if you have any news.

That's because there are over 1000 members -- those of us not in the path are checking to see how you are, but not posting.

Stay safe!

Delstormlover, was waiting to see where you posted from.... Downtown Bayard here... amazing to see the complacency in the Bethany/Fenwick area. Fully expect to see a new inlet just north of the existing.... Bethany NEVER had a low tide today pressure gradient will definately cause a problem.

This is Jeb here in Woodbridge VA, 20 mi SSW of DC.
We had a real red sunset with ENE winds 15 mph gusts to 24. Barometer falling, dewpoints rising and cirrostratus spreading over the sky, moving in from the SE. Tonight it will get cloudy and the winds will increase to 25 to 30mph, then tomorrow its rain and increasing winds.

Thanks for the concern hurricanewatcher...much higher elevation than Bethany. Winds and old trees may be my nemisis, not tides. Expecting 50 to 70 mile an hour sustained winds tomorrow. State has issued an emergency today at noon, effective Thursday.. kinda hung up the plan to evacuate. Didn't allow for working parents to make plans till after school was out today. Cleaned the yard, spent too much time working on clients' properties, finally did my own. hey, my car is in the garage for the first time EVER!........We've hunkered down.......... will continue to post as long as the cable modem works.

Hey Baltimoregirl,
I have a good friend at Camp LeJeune- she says they are WELL prepared. Bet your son has been busy, though!
I have a son in the USCG- spent 4 years in Hatteras- through Dennis...Floyd. Man, it is NERVE WRACKING, isn't it? Hang in there, Mom. it is the no news is good news scenerio.
Here in Cape May County we are gusting over 30 already...
Local emergency management worried about Friday's 3:00am high tide...
Ready as we can be.
