NBC clip - too funny!

#1 Postby janswizard » Thu Sep 18, 2003 11:45 am

Brian Williams was reporting from Virginia Beach about how strong the winds are. He was joined by Mike Seidel (sp) from the weather channel. Just as Mike was measuring the wind speed, a huge gust of wind picked Mike up like he was a paper bag and tossed him out of camera range. I saw it live - and they have shown it several times since it originally happened. At first, my reaction was "OMG, I hope he's alright!". Now, each time I see it, I just about bust a gut laughing. THAT one will go down in weather history!

I'm sure Furluvcat's radar is up with this story....Mike's her fave OCM, I think if my memory is correct. Any minute she'll be popping in here.....LOL Course a little birdie filling her in might not hurt either......

Poor Mike indeed!!!! Hope to see that clip. Something to chuckle about, but later. Glad Mike's okay.....I like him too. One of the best of the best.

If you go to MSNBC.com, they have it on a repeat video - go check it out before they take it off!

Brian Williams was doing most of the talking - the video showed him between two buildings where he had to hang on for dear life. Mike Siedel came up and tried to take a reading of the wind while they were hanging onto each other for support and then they both just got blown away!

It was too funny! TWC won't let poor Mike live that one down!

The part where Seidel gets blown away is about halfway through the 4 minute, 55-second video clip on the MSNBC web site.

The folks who have seen this already are NOT exaggerating. Its pretty amazing video.

MSNBC has repeated that clip about 8 or 9 times already on the television cable news station. It's still being shown on the video clip of their website. You KNOW that this one will be kept for posterity! I can hear the razzing both of those guys are going to take for a long time!

*falls over laughing* I HAD to see - and it's hilarious. Although I was expecting head over heels flying *Laughs*

I can't even imagine the kind of person who would stick it out in the worst windy place they can *Laughs*

Just saw it on MSNBC. Sure hope that guy wasn't hurt badly. But Brian Williams was right when he said(paraphrasing)"The people watching are probably saying what were they doing there anyway"

On the online video, the gust occurs right about 3 min into it.

I saw that at lunchtime and as soon as I looked at the tv the guy just flew out of what looked like a hug. I was like "holy cows on a stick" (lingo i learned from storm2k)!

I hollered! Then I wondered if he was seriously hurt....
