Question, will the Thread Title(of this thread here) change, to reflect the NHC's designation change Form Erika to 90L, as well?
Sorry if grammar/question is confusing....

Gotta wonder sometimes if NHC reads this board. I've even seen the discussions a few times that almost seemed to directly address debates that were occurring at the time.

The above post is not official and should not be used as such. It is the opinion of the poster and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. It is not endorsed by any professional institution or storm2k.org. For official information, please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

Well, I am glad NHC tweeted out the procedure to clear the confusion. Apparently, they were getting a lot of feedback about that, so they immediately responded back to clear up any confusion.

Wouldn't surprise me. It doesn't get mentioned much, but I love how the NHC has taken to twitter in recent years to become more transparent, even making major announcements on Twitter. It's a refreshing development from them, and a great way to disperse news quickly.

You know Hammy, I have often wondered that myself how often they pay attention to this forum, if at all. This renumbering thing and their immediate response does make you wonder a bit if they are looking here in, as well as the obvious social media tools.

I know I had just tweeted to them about it no more than a minute before, guessing a lot of others did too and social media can be a big help if done right which it seems they are

Just like Jon Snow..."I know nothing" except what I know, and most of what I know is gathered by the fine people of the NHC

Sorry if grammar/question is confusing....
I think the moderators will make a separate thread for the system now designated as 90L because along with the discussion thread, there will another thread for the new models runs intialized now with the re-numbering designation.

nhc is very transparent, heck they release their thoughts every 6 hours in the disco...not too many govt agencies or private sector companies release their error rates...they are top notch..will be interesting to see the post mortem and the difficulties with erika, the edge of the ridge issue is perplexing how much trouble that caused which destroyed their track, i relaize lack of intensity was no help on verifying direction
side note: gutters just had a huge workout from onshore convection, tropical downpour with 30 mph winds, 10 minute "event"

I think new threads would cause more problems than it would solve, especially should Erika regenerate. Shouldn't have two sets of two threads for one system.

Erika's outer edge is pushing a rain band towards the island just outside my window over the Gulf.

I think now 90L is about to make a considerable slow down in forward speed. 90L is beginning to approach the extreme western edge of the subtropcial ridge, which is just past 80 degrees longitude. The tough is now down into the North Central GOM. One way you can see that is even with this IR imagery. Look at the upper flow just beyond 80 Longitude. Yo can see the south-southwest flow easily with the movment of the upper level cirrus , and the convection moving northwest at around just past the 80 Longitude point.
I give 90L 2-3 more hours and then it will slow down as the system feels the weakness in the ridge.

Is the MLC further east just on the northeast tip of Cuba?
By the way, I'm a long time lurker and check in as much as possible.
Thanks for all the information you guys have provided over the years!!

Well, you make a good point Jeremy. But, that decision will rest with cycloneye, tolaram and the other moderators to see how they will execute this going forward.
