It could be just as bad in Haiti and the Dominican Republic as to what occured in Dominica. Plus, Erika's remnants still are to come and effect the Florida peninsula in the days to come. So, when it is all said and done, Erika's deadly wake and massive flooding imo makes her a very good candiate for retirement, the same way I felt about Fay in 2008.

Here is a report from the Dominican Republic and it looks like what happened in Puerto Rico occurred there as the center did not made it inland in that country and that track caused less rainfall than expected and little damage occurred.

I live in the capital city of Santo Domingo. Currently the weather is clear and its business as usual in the DR. Yesrerday Erika passed causing minor damages because of the wind. There was little rain and no flooding, at least not in Santo Domingo. I have not heard of any major damages reported in any other city in the DR. We insure most of the hotels in the DR and have not received, up to now, any reports of major incidents.

Navy NRL visible loop link:

Here you can see the currently designated LLC working WNW between Cuba and Andros (barely see it) and the mid-level circulation around the NE tip of Cuba, with one lone tiny convection burst firing near the MLC along the coast of Cuba

I just have one big question out there for anyone. If the remnants of Erika re-develop will she be renamed Erika or given a different name?

This was already answered in the thread...it keeps the same name.

It's only about 3 pages back:

Because a few folks are asking - if the remnants of Erika become a tropical cyclone again, they’d get the name Erika.

An AP article stated that five people were killed as of now.

8 PM % are down.

A trough of low pressure associated with the remnants of Erika is
moving quickly west-northwestward across the Florida Straits this
evening. There are no signs of redevelopment at this time, and
upper-level winds should remain unfavorable for tropical cyclone
formation. Regardless of this system's prospects for regeneration,
locally heavy rains and gusty winds are expected to spread across
portions of the western Bahamas, south Florida and the Keys tonight
and Sunday. This activity should spread northwestward and then
northward across the eastern Gulf of Mexico later Sunday and Monday.
Additional information on this system can be found in marine
forecasts and local forecast products issued by the National Weather
Service and the meteorological services of Cuba and the Bahamas.

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...30 percent

They dropped the information that it could develop in the Gulf.

Out of respect for the people of the Antilles, wxman57 may not call on this one. Essentially though he gave hints he would've already done it last night or this morning. As a TC entity she has already been toast. What is left will be enhanced rainfall along with the SW flow in the gulf to Florida.

:uarrow: Yeah, I think the remnants of Erika could cause some flooding headaches for the Peninsula tonight through at least Tuesday, especially along the FL west coast where the ground is so saturated.

Please no. This time, it has to be a no with regards to Bones coming out. Now, if it was
a situation in which Erika had not affected any land masses , then bringing Bones out is fine. But, Erika has been an extremely deadly storm leaving behind in her wake over 20 people dead in Dominica and also an Associated Press report stating at least 5 are dead in Haiti from devastating flooding. So, I just think it is inappropiate to interject Bones into this thread to make light of the fact that Erika is dead. Respect the people who are suffering terribly from this tropical cyclone and for the people who have tragically lost their lives because of this storm.

There really hasn't been much rain so far on the east coast of the state. I understand it's supposed to pick up after midnight but even on radar I don't see much on this side of the state.
