It's has been 6 hours since I last talked to NCbird. Has anyone heard anything about the fairfield harbor area in north carolina on the news or by radio...I still cannot get through to her by phone and the last time I spoke with her she informed me that they would not be able to drive out by car because of the road being 'underwater'. As I mentioned in our regular post we've never lost the phone before during these types of storms. I am probably just starting to be over concerned cause ..well ..of pregnancy hormones but I just can't help myself. If we had talked last when the storm was winding down I wouldn't worry so much but well...there you have it.

Pebbles, think positive. Maybe one of the cell towers toppled and that's why you can't reach her. I bet she's snug as a bug.

She's in craven county at fairfield harbor which is about 6 miles downriver from New Bern...fairfield harbor lies along the neuse river. In fact she's about 1 block away from Fairfield marina....

I know that newbern had some trees down and power was out, but when the winds shifted they blew the high waters out of the new bern area and down river so the water levels there should have dropped quite a bit.

OK..well finally called emergancy management down there when even my brother started to be concerned. They said the phones are down there but they (police i am assuming) had driven around and everything seemed ok. There was some flooding but it's not major anymore and I wasn't the only one to call about family in that area..guess allot of others started calling to. So all in all..NCbird and hubby are probably just fine and waiting for the phones to come back on too :) Just thought I would update you all.

Thanks for the update, Pebbles. I was worried as I was reading your posts yesterday. I'm sure all is well with them, just no phones. And I'm sure they have some stories to tell!
Y'all are still in my thoughts!

I'm fine...we got crushed by some wind-driven light rains and some gusty winds, it was nasty...

It makes me mad that schools are delayed or closed... (mine is delayed..surprise, surprise)

On the phone with her now..she's ok...she says thankyou for all your prayers and thoughts...their alive...it was just hell on earth! This was worse then Fran even though Fran was stronger. We have more damage down here then we did from Fran.

She says post more later from when she gets electric and finish up her log of the storm.

SOOO glad you heard from her - now you can rest comfortably, Pebbles. I'm looking forward to reading her log. Did she make a blog somewhere or is this something she will post here on the board?

Thanks guys and gals :) She had a thread on the board here..i'll post the link below. As for me..i'm still a little tired and the poor house has been sadly neglected this week. So, I'm am off to cuddle with my 3 year old and doze as she lays next to me and watches dumbo and then attack this place with a mop and sponge...Rainband..where are you when I REALLY do need a piles of cloths washed *snickers*

I am for one heartly relieved this dang storm is almost history! And for those of you dealing with her last hours..stay safe! *huggers*
