Isabel was a hurricane for a total of 11 days, and 10 hours

Other interesting stats regarding Isabel ...

Isabel was a hurricane for 11 days and 10 hours - From Sun, Sept 7th @ 11 am to Sept 18th at 9 PM
Isabel was a MAJOR hurricane for exactly 8 days from Mon, Sept 8th @ 11 am to 11 pm, Tues, Sept 16th.
Isabel was a CAT 4 hurricane or higher for 7 days consecutively from Mon, Sept 8th @ 11 pm to Mon, Sept 15th @ 11 pm.
Isabel was a CAT 5 twice ... 36 hours and 18 hours respectively or a combined total of 54 hours, just shy of Allen's record of 60 hours as a CAT 5. Furthermore, Isabel reaching CAT 5 status twice makes only the 3rd North Atlantic Hurricane (with only Hurricanes Allen (reached CAT 5 three separate times for a total of 60 hours - both the records for an Atlantic Hurricane) and Hurricane Andrew doing it twice on re-analysis) and the 54 hours the 2nd longest ATL hurricane sustaining CAT 5 status. More information will come as the re-analysis and the end of season stats are available, probably sometime next year). The date/times of Isabel's CAT 5 status are as follows

..... Thur, Sept 11th @ 5 pm to Fri, Sat 13th @ 5 am ..... 36 hours
..... Sat, Sept 13th @ 5 pm to Sun, Sept 14th @ 11 am ..... 18 hours

Wasn't it a record or maybe a rarity that Isabel became a hurricane before 40W and actually hit the east coast? Maybe this question is for JetMaxx LOL

Actually, LarryWx has those stats and he posted them about a week ago if someone can find and bump that thread up ... Based on those threads, this is the first one meeting that criteria that wasn't a major hurricane at landfall.

I'm a newby, but please check these dates as related to the day of the week...
Also, wasn't there a record hurricane wind gust recorded on the 14th or so? I would love to hear about it. :D

Edited the days of the weeks for the above in the first post ... thanks for the heads-up. Another 50 plus hour work week will do that to you ... No record on the wind gusts. RECON in Hurricane Andrew fought flight-level winds of 255 mph in the hours just before landfall ...

I thought Isabel skipped Tropical Depression Status as she was Isabel as advisory No 1.
