Recon will likely be sampling it in its peak state. Hope the pilot is careful and they sample the storm safely. Looks like it will be the strongest storm to be sampled since Wilma?

Certainly since Felix in 2007, and in that storm, a mission had to be aborted due to graupel and turbulence.

Not that it's needed, but of course there are no new microwave images.

I'd go with 150 kt at the advisory (pressure 918mb), and peak the intensity at 170 kt in 12 hours.

You can tell how strong this system really is when it looks impressive on JSL.

Going to point out a few things.

1. ADT value of 8.3 is higher than the 8.1 given to Haiyan. In the ADT era, the 8.3 is a record. However, ADT seems to have a low bias in the WPAC especially in the current version CMISS ADT (8.2.1)

2.This system qualifies as a T7.5 with a CDG ring and OW eye. I think the eye is likely warmer than suggested by ADT, since it is so small.

3.Worth pointing that in the past Dvorak has a low bias with 125+ knot systems.

Linda isn't scared -- I doubt it drops down that far. If it actually dropped to 902 mb with that gradient it would probably be 180 mph winds, which isn't impossible of course, but exceedingly rare even in the best of conditions.

I don't think Linda should be scared... but, if conditions remain favorable, 1959 might.

Don't see why this won't get to 150 knots at the rate we're going.

Linda got Recon, but post-peak I think.

From the recon thread is on the way. As you mentioned should be in the storm in a few hours. Long night for us weather enthusiasts to see the ground truth.

Very bad for the coast of Mexico. Prayers to them.
