Main question: what's strongest building in Perula & La Fortuna? We're in unknown territory. #Hurricane #PATRICIA

I will be very surprised of Patricia got stronger (pressure wise) than Wilma.
I jinxed myself there. Seriously did not expect Patricia to get THAT strong.

Really?
People need to settle down and get off the drama words. Yes, it's setting records and should be discussed. But not in an E! or TLC reality TV manner.
For perspective Haiyan had an energy of 30 atomic bombs, this may be similar or more. And thus, I think you have a problem dealing with this storm. It's not drama and to think this is the strongest storm on record (not counting those 50s-60s WPAC systems) in terms of wind speeds... How can you survive with 200 mph wind speeds?

I already thought this would be a strong major that's dangerous but never of this magnitude

Re: EPAC: PATRICIA - Hurricane: History is made
Incredible storm. Brings back memories reading through the posts for the recon of the night Wilma broke the record. I stayed up remembering how impressive that was and what was amazing back then was to see the record fall in real-time as recon brought it in even before NHC announced it.
Patricia is taking advantage of very high SST's and a very strong MJO.

Re: EPAC: PATRICIA - Hurricane: History is made
Just look at the ADT. Looks like something you make up but it's not. Had recon continued could you imagine the data we would still be getting? As impressive as 880 was, I have little doubt it was likely lower after recon left.

Yep when you look into the energy that creates these monsters, it's much more powerful than the energy in a nuclear bomb, even a super cell has more energy than a nuclear bomb, of course not all of that energy gets put into the destruction, thank goodness. Hopefully they have some sturdy hospitals down there so people can take shelter.

My goodness. Just the hint of light and it looks unbelievably scary.

They need to be entirely out of the area. No structure above ground is safe from these winds

I don't know how Mexico treats evacuations, but due to the hurricane intensifying extremely fast I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people didn't evacuate, hopefully there are some strongly built hospitals in the area.
