Region is hit very hard

#1 Postby ncweatherwizard » Sat Sep 20, 2003 12:57 pm

The biggest issue are trees down everywhere, as far as I can see in Northeastern NC. Yesterday, I didn't really go anywhere since I was busy getting everything in the yard out of the way. I'll be putting some pictures on my website later; a lot of trees through houses. I've heard also that power has been restored to Ocracoke Island this morning. Elizabeth City has been hit by flooding in addition to wind; in fact much of the wind damage was caused by the saturated ground from several weeks of rain. I cannot get on the Outer Banks of course; although I have an aunt who works at the hospital down there. Sand has blown all over the island from what I hear---a couple of piers are gone. Right now, I don't have power; and we probably will not have power for the remainder of the month and a bit into October; but I will be back on campus tomorrow afternoon and be back on a normal routine. I'll be back on a little later.
