TXDOT reporting water over 145 in Corsicana, highway closed both direction. The roads are so bad there according to what I read, they can't close them fast enough so they are telling people to stay home unless they are fleeing flooding.

I35 north of Waco is also shut down because of water over the road at West.

I just got back from a forecasting workshop, Dr. Ariel Cohen of Storm Prediction Center was there as well as some employees from the Wilmington Ohio NWS office. I learned a lot of neat stuff, like why the government weather offices will sometimes go conservative in the mid to long range because the potential disaster has a low probability or when forecasting a potential bad event where a couple of small variables that can't be seen even in short term models sometimes can make a forecast bust. I.E Dr. Ariel Cohen's decision to put a moderate risk on 4/29/2014.

A lot of rain out there in the northeastern third of the state DFW is nearing 5". The southern half will see their fair share this weekend, if it's not raining hard now, it will. You folks in SE Texas better be ready. Patricia has been en-trained and her slug of moisture will be felt first in south-central and central Texas sometime tomorrow through Sunday.

Next weekend (Halloween) looks potentially like another multi inch rain event. As the period draws closer, the rainfall totals have crawled up.

The rain just changed over to heavy snow in the Texarkana area. I already have a couple inches on the ground, expecting close to a foot by morning.

DFW airport needs about 1" of rain to get into top 10 wettest Octobers. After being on pace for top 10 driest through 20 days. Top 5 would be about 8.2" total

Well, looks like someone is getting 5-8+ inches in the state right now based on the posts. I am still sitting at 0.67. I'll report in morning what gauge shows. Stay safe out there everyone!

Edit: 0.68. ;)

I'm getting really concerned about the Houston area and the flooding potential over the weekend. Please keep an eye on the weather and be prepared to take action if necessary.
